Summer Camps: Just Around the Corner
It’s not too late to sign your kids up for camp this summer

Through 2003’s long and brutal winter, summer seemed far away. So, if you’re not completely set on what to do for your kids this summer, we’ve come to the rescue.

Here — grouped by activity type and date — are a smattering of camps and programs still accepting kids for the summer. Next February, we’ll help you plan ahead with a comprehensive guide to what to do with the kids come summer.

Arts
Join the Band at Sacchetti Music
All summer: Kids of all ages learn to play piano, guitar, bass, violin, cello and other instruments, which can be rented. @ Sacchetti Music, Huntingtown: 410/257-7620.

From Script to Stage at Children’s Theatre of Annapolis
June 23-27: Kids ages 9-18 learn the process of writing, planning and performing a one-act play. 9am-3pm @ Bay Head Park, 1661 Bay Head Rd., Annapolis. $125 w/member discount: 410/757-2281.

Make an Impression Camp at Battle Creek Nature Center

Ballet and Tap at Chesapeake Arts Center

Summer Arts Camp at College of Southern Maryland

Musical Theatre Summer Camp at Children’s Theatre of Annapolis

Elements Camp in Calvert County

Family Dinosaur Camp at Chesapeake Children’s Museum
July 21-25: Take home your own fossils. Kids ages three and up w/adult work alongside a real paleontologist to hunt for dinosaurs and other fossils. Colonial Kids Camps at Historic St. Mary’s

Hands-on History Camp at Chesapeake Children’s Museum
July 7-11: Students entering 3rd, 4th and 5th grades learn about Colonial life and times. Kunta Kinte Camp at Chesapeake Children’s Museum
