A Good Party for a Good Cause
Eight Reasons Not to Miss Bay Weekly’s Birthday Bash
by Mary Catherine Ball

On the shores of the South River where chords of music fill the air and smells of barbecue and grilled hot dogs waft near your nose: This is where you need to be Sunday, May 7 as Bay Weekly celebrates its seventh birthday on the lawn at Surfside 7.

Our birthday bash means a lot to us and a lot for you. You are our guests; no fee is required. But we do hope for $1 donations to benefit the South River Federation.

Games of volleyball will activate the afternoon. Music, food, massages and more fill the day. Walk the deck to keep your bids current in the silent auction.

Then when the music ends and your bellies are full, settle down and get ready for the real fun. Bay Weekly welcomes you to its live auction, fun for the whole family. Ladies with a Gavel Pam Parks and Judy Howard call the items and bids in true auctioneer style. Open your wallet or purse and let it all hang out.

See you at Surfside 7, across the South River Bridge in Edgewater. Sunday, May 7, noon-5pm: free.

Reason 1: To Paaar-Taaay
Get down to the sweet sounds of music on the South River

Reason 2: Fill Up on Fantastic Food

Reason 3: Frolic with Friends & Family
Find somewhere comfortable to eat, drink and be merry .

Reason 4: Bid for a Better Environment
SSShhh, walk over to the silent auction and browse the tables. Some of our best deals never make a sound.

Reason 5: Improve Your Inner Self
Get the kinks out of your body. Sign up for a seated or table massage and drift off into relaxation.

Reason 6: Stretch Winter Muscles
Surfside’s sandy, beach volleyball court provides a way to burn off some of that good food.

Reason 7: Cuddle Up with Animal Friends
Last year, American Forests brought their mascot, Treeture, to the Birthday Bash. This year, Treeture and friends return, to give all the kids some thanks and a hug.

Reason 8. It’s a Free Day … for Kids Too
Kids have as much fun as parents. Start by painting a smile on your face.
