Wildlife Rescue at the Maryland Science Center

Event Date:
Repeats every day until Mon Sep 02 2013 .
May 11, 2013 - 10:00am

Experience, experiment, and explore the science of how we can save Earth’s ecosystems at the Maryland Science Center’s new travelling exhibit, Wildlife Rescue, opening May 11, 2013. The exhibit will be on display until Labor Day.

Visitors to the exhibit will be introduced to the rescue efforts of people who dedicate their lives to the health of our planet’s habitats. Wildlife Rescue lets young rescuers experiment with puppets, costumes and the techniques used to teach animals survival skills, which often results in groups of animals or entire species being saved. In the exhibit, interactive activities such as crawling through a turtle culvert, comparing one’s weight to a panda’s and simulating flying with a Whooping Crane and feeding a baby California Condor give visitors a look at the important task of preserving Earth’s wildlife. Additional exhibit sections include:

Species Recovery Center: Visitors will learn the challenges endured by endangered species around the world while trying professional methods used to help them recover and survive in their natural habitats.

“Return to the Wild” Theater and Exhibits”: The compelling stories of people who dedicate their lives to saving individual animals or entire species include orphaned elephants and orangutans as examples of long-term commitments and forged relationships between endangered animals and their rescuers.

Home Front: Children and families will learn how they can make a difference in the rescue and habitat preservation of wildlife right in their backyards.

Wildlife Rescue admission and activities are free with paid admission to the Maryland Science Center. The Maryland Science Center is located at 601 Light Street at Baltimore’s Inner Harbor.
