Wild Edibles: Delicious in a Jar
Did you know your own backyard is a treasure trove of tasty treats? Take a hike through Irvine Nature Center in search of nature’s delicacies and learn the basics of home canning in this exciting workshop! With Naturalist Sara Mills you will learn proper plant identification, preparation and other important tools for safely enjoying wild edibles. Then, come into our kitchen for a short course on canning taught by jelly master Beth Lacey Gill. By the end of our time you’ll be prepped for when spring and summer bounties show up that need preserving. And you’ll leave with your very own safely-canned jar of dandelion jelly. Appropriate for ages 12+.
