Pat Buehler Appreciation Dinner

Event Date:
October 12, 2017 - 6:30pm

You have to look hard to find a corner of Calvert County untouched by Pat Buehler’s long reach.

A countian from birth, he grew up in St. Leonard and has been a fixture in the family store, Buehler’s Market, almost since its founding in 1948. The family business continues with Buehler, wife Beverly, daughter Maria and six-year-old grandson, King Kurly.

“He learned from his mother the value of helping others,” says Marie Buehler, and has kept as busy with community service as with selling liquor, deli foods and his own invention, an all-in-one knife and scoop for eating steaming crabs.

Buehler was elected a Calvert County commissioner three times, helped create Annmarie Garden as a trustee for the Koenig Charitable Trust and was a founding member of Christmas in April, the Calvert program assisting many of the county’s neediest with home repairs. In 2000, he was recognized for his years of service when he received the John C. Smith Chamber Award for exceptional humanitarian work.

His lifelong service to his native county is honored Thursday, Oct. 12 at a surf and turf dinner sponsored by the Small Business Interest Group of Calvert County at the Rod ‘N’ Reel in Chesapeake Beach. Open bar cocktail hour with live music 6:30pm, dinner 7:30pm; $50, rsvp: cbresortspa.ticketleap.com.
