Civil War Soldiers and Their Quilts

Event Date:
September 8, 2013 - 2:00am - 3:00am

Mavis Slawson, a textile historian and docent at the National Museum of Civil War Medicine in Frederick, will present a program on Civil War soldiers and Their Quilts. Quilts were important to soldiers in the Civil War. Some soldiers brought quilts from home with them into battle, others received them from the Sanitary Commission, still others found that making quilts provided therapy for what we now know as post-traumatic stress syndrome. The program is free, however a donation of $10 is suggested. Light refreshments will be served.
