Skipper’s Pier Restaurant & Dock Bar

Skipper’s Pier Restaurant & Dock Bar serves cultured cuisine with a focus on fresh seafood and seasonal ingredients. In-house fishmonger Mark Norfolk sources the freshest seafood and purchases whole fish, which is inspected and hand-cut on site to maintain the highest quality.

You couldn’t dream up a more spectacular view than the one you enjoy at Skipper’s, nestled at Rockhold Creek’s entrance to the Chesapeake. From nearly anywhere at the restaurant you can view Herring Bay, passing boats and resident wildlife. You can enjoy the waterfront view at a table out on the pier, at the Dock Bar or from the inside dining room.

Whether you come for crabs, fresh fish, oyster shooters, a 10-ounce hamburger, a great steak or one of the other fabulous items from the menu, your meal will be prepared with the freshest ingredients and served by an experienced staff.

Landing at Skipper’s Pier in 2007, owner and executive chef John Kozik has embraced the laid-back, relaxed atmosphere many have come to appreciate at Skipper’s — while at the same time maintaining his desire to provide a top-quality product with flair. Skipper’s Pier has evolved over 80 years from a clam-shucking shack to a top-notch casual waterfront restaurant.

Oyster Stew

Sauté until soft
1 whole onion
6 oz. butter
4 chopped garlic cloves
1 ham hock
3 cups diced celery
Add and reduce liquid by one half
1 cup dry vermouth
1 cup white wine

Add and reduce liquid by one half
1 cup clam juice
1 cup sherry

Add and bring to a boil
1 quart heavy cream
1 quart half and half
1 quart milk

Add 1 quart shucked oysters and the oyster liqueur. Heat until the edges of the oysters curl. Season to taste with salt and pepper. Finish with chopped parsley, chives and pats of butter.
